Currys refund or exchange question

1st time poster, so hello everyone.

This morning I returned a faulty Apple Watch to Currys and was given a New replacent.
I was informed I’d get a fresh 12 months warranty and walked out with a fresh receipt.
Once home I looked at the receipt and noticed the following at the bottom “ if you change your mind the last day for a full refund or exchange is 21/010/2017”
However the receipt also shows the exchange on it but states faulty next to the exchange.

So my question is can I return to a Currys store and exchange my Apple Watch for another model or ask for a full refund , I haven’t opened the replacement watch but would now if possible like to exchange for a newer model or if refunded purchase elsewhere.
I’m presuming I could have actually requested a refund today in store when’s took my faulty Watch in as it was faulty withing the 12 month of purchase.

I don’t want to make a fool of myself going back again today asking for an exchange or a refund if I’m not entitled to it so any advise would be much appreciated.

Regards Stef232

After 6 months you need to prove to thee shop that the fault was there from the start to get a full refund. Within the 12 month warranty the shop has the choice to replace or refund {their choice not yours}so as it was replaced you have no comeback {ie refund from the shop} and as far as I know even if the wording on your receipt states what it does as it is marked "faulty" you are not buying new so that would mean nothing.
As to the new warranty I believe {although I could be wrong} it will not be a new 12 month one but will run from the purchase of the first item.
  • Thanks for the reply. The new receipt doesn’t indicate my original purchase date in of February and the chap in store did state it would be a new 12 month warranty.
It’s just very strange that it would have the exchange or refund quote on the new receipt if it were not in my rights to use this.
I called customer service who stated they ”thought it would be ok “ but I’d prefer a definitive answer.

While it will not state your original purchase date their records will show when you bought the faulty one. I hope I am correct with my reply to you and that others will reply to confirm my response but if I am wrong and others say so you still have a time period to return it :0)
  • I’ll update shortly as I’ll pop into store, I guess I’ll know for sure then.
Hopping I get a little lucky on this as I can now see I well over paid for the watch purchasing it from Currys in the 1st instance.
Sounds very shallow but if I can get a refund or an exchange then I’ll be able to get the newer version and I won’t feel so cheated after over paying.
Perhaps a little reward for having a defective item ......... Watch this space folks.
  • Update folks.
I needn’t have worried. Currys have just issued me a full refund for £399 so I can now put that towards another watch.
Thanks for the kind input London50

Glad to hear it has all worked out well for you:)so now you can get what you want and at a fair price, well done:beer:
  • Just to clarify something.

That part of the bottom is Currys Change of mind policy, where you can return a item purchased in store unopened within 21 days for a refund or exchange. Has nothing to do with any consumer rights or guarentee.
