Sorn question.

Going to declare a car Sorn before the 1st October so I won't pay road tax for October.

Online, you can do it immediately, or, the first day of next month.
Surely if I do it the first day of next month, wont we have to pay October road tax?.

I presume your VED is on monthly DD?

If you don't cancel the VED before 23:59:59 tomorrow, then you need to pay October's VED. If the car is not taxed, it needs to be SORNed.

If the car's not going to leaving private land between now and tomorrow night, then there's really no reason not to just do it now.

Cheers Adrian, the car will be back on the drive at 6pm, I will Sorn it then.

We needed a weeks road tax on this car as my hubbys broke down on 19 Sept, fixed on 21st!! DVLA did a Direct Debit for a year.

Just done a SORN

You can only do it effective immediately, unless you have the tax reminder (for next month) when you can use the number off the reminder to SORN it from when the new tax would have started.

Even if you weren't paying monthly, your refund would only be from November onwards if not done by 23:59 tomorrow.
