I signed up for microsoft monthly subscription for 1 x PC for £5.99 a month. Today they took £1700 from my account. as i noticed it was pending i went to the back and they have blocked the account. which is a huge relief as that is all my month wages that went in yesterday.
so I downloaded office from the link last week and it has been working well, obviously now i know its a scam i need to remove it , what is the best way and how can I protect my PC now, i have McAfee and a firewall active.
thanks

Neither a good antivirus program (nor McAfee, for that matter) or a firewall would have prevented you from signing up to a scam website.
On the face of it, your PC has probably not been compromised, but anyway run Malwarebytes Antimalware (the free version, or the trial of the premium version). Change your online bank/credit card password and any other passwords related to financial matters. Presuming you paid by credit card, try to get the credit card firm to give you a new account.
Anything else?0 -
Just de-install it?
I have never used any Microsoft office products except when I worked and the organisation wouldn’t use anything except Microsoft rubbish.
At home I use the free Libreoffice suite, no need to pay a monthly subscription either. https://www.libreoffice.org/0 -
I don't think the OP's question had anything to do with the merits or otherwise of Microsoft Office...0

I wonder who they are ??
I used the link posted on MSE this month for Office cost about £7- .0 -
well i have done some digging and the subscription to microsoft is genuine but my microsoft account has been used to make a £1670 purchase for someone in Southampton i live in wales. HSBC have been brilliant and blocked my cards so my money is safe. I can track the purchase in recent activities but I am afraid to use it now.
I also need to contact microsoft but this has upset me so much I am scared of talking to another scammer. how do i check the site i use is genuine??0 -

That's the same site, i know now that the download etc isn't the problem, it's my account that has been used to make a fraudulent purchase. sorry for the confusion, i was in a blind panic as you can imagine0 -
Make a purchase of what? Is it a case of your card being compromised or your bank account?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

The money was pending from my bank account i have spoken to Microsoft via live chat, they have deleted the fraudulent address that was added and cancelled the order. i now have 2 step verification set up and have changed all my passwords.
I only set up the account a few days ago to pay for the monthly subscription.. funny how they waited for pay day to place the fraudulent order it's like they know somehow ??0 -
If you use the same username and password combination on a lot of sites try checking you haven't been compromised elsewhere, which may have caused this:

obviously check you are happy to put your username in to this site, but it is legit.0
