PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Maybe because the LL is not absolutely desperate for OP to be out on this date. They provided 2 months notice because that's the norm, rather than 2 months and 5 days or 2 month and 20 days. What specific advantages do you think there would be for Tenant to speak to landlord at the moment, please? I can see some for the Landlord but none for Tenant but probably I'm thick.
Speaking with the LL might actually confirm that as long as OP is taking appropriate steps to move out, they might be ok with it to be longer. Much better to leave in good terms, and secure a good reference, than cause trouble for the sake of it, just because one can and is protected doing so legally.0 -
