Quick question.. we are thinking of replacing our wooden sheds with more permanent building which could also be my home office.
Due to budget restrictions we will do a lot of the work ourselves and will be sourcing the material. we have priced with Wickes/homebase/travis perking... but just wondering if any of you have some good addresses where we can compare especially for blocks/wood etc. We are in South west london/north surrey. Same questions with any salvage places where we can have a look also...like a garden gate etc .many thanks in advance.

By all means get prices from the likes of Wickes/Homebase/B&Q, but go to a proper builder's merchant and haggle over the price.
For example, I had need of a few sheets of MDF recently. Went to Build Base and told them I had a target price of £20 per sheet (B&Q price). They got to within a few pence and delivered for free. Also have a smallish independent builder's merchant that stocks materials that none of the others do (e.g. lime putty) and also offers free delivery.
Shop around, compare prices, and don't forget to ask for free delivery.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
As above. And I always find the independents are more open for negotiating.0
