Eon smart meter issues!!
Hi all
I moved into a new property last year and it was the first time I've had to use a smart meter with Eon. To be honest it's been nothing but a nightmare. Eon has left me with a £300 debt stating that my usage was more than agreed. I'm very dubious about this as there's two of us in a two bedroom flat and both work full time with minimal electrical devices only usual kitchen appliances and two televisions. Each day the smart meter alarms me to going over the usage even tho I could be at work all day with no electrical equipment switched (only basic kitchen appliances). My yearly bill was around £580 but eon state we have used 280% more usage. Has anyone else had this issue?? Also I pay a separate eon heat bill for the heating and hot water which is another £60 a month.
Any help would be great.

Do you have , or did you have an Eco 7 meter for the electricity only usage. ? If not ignore the next paragraphs.
Electric smart meters will correct all incorrect old Eco 7 meters especially old analogue meters which have been giving many people cheaper electric bills. They are 100% correct now and bring to an end the cheap energy bonanza.
The free lunch era is over for many eco7 users with the advent of smart meters installed..they are smart !0 -

Good morning Sam_1232 and welcome to the forum.
It's good that you've contacted us already about this and the smart department here are the right people to talk to.
Although you have smart meters I would check that the meter readings are all accurate and we've billed to these readings from the actual meter.
It does sound like the monthly Direct Debit or you payment amount hasn't been enough to cover the energy that you've used.
It may be an idea to manually monitor this for a little while, by reading the meter at the same time each day and see if you can see a spike.
I would also suggest checking you're on the best tariff for you, we've had a couple of new ones recently.
You can check these out via your online account.
But please keep in contact with the smart guys, they're the ones best placed to help you here.
Thank you.

I know heating and hot water is on a separate meter (communal heating or a separate circuit for your boiler?) But do you have an electric shower by any chance? They can often catch people out with how much they use and might not be on the 'hot water circuit'.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
