DVLA Refund

  • Ok, say 'helpful' dealer taxed the wrong car? What then?

But yes, car never bought and it would appear DVLA don't even know the answer.

I'm beginning to think the only solution may be a charge back via the bank.

Why & when did the deal fall through?

But the dealer doesn't gain because the car will not be in his name so he would get any refund.

dealer gets free tax on a car which can now be parked on roadside and driven around on testdrives. how does dealer not gain?

op should just do a chargeback if he/she can, they have no business pursueing you for the debt because like they said before you're not the RK. the RK will get a nice bill from dvla/hmrc

I assume with any letter that goes out there is a phone number, I know what I would be doing.

Why would they need to, they'll have trade plates that'll allow them to do that.

Clearly not the case because the dealer got OP to pay the tax.

Unless of course the dealer is a scumbag and got OP to pay for the tax on dealer plates and pleading ignorance now.

Maybe that was because he thought the OP was buying it.

being a professional seller who does in day in day out, this is a pretty rookie mistake by the dealer to do this. my gut feeling is this is deliberate to either get the OP to commit to a purchase by paying the tax on it (makes haggling harder).

or just a stupid scam to get OP to pay the tax. and steal the tax refund.

Unbelievable, your posts really defy any logic whatsoever. :rotfl:
