Anyone upgraded to Acronis True Image 2018?

Hi folks,

I have true image 2010 and it is running fine on windows 7, on windows 10 the release version of true image 2010 will work, but adding updates stops it working, at the moment mainly I am working on windows 7.
Well I got a special offer email from Acronis, three computer licence for £20.99, and on live chat it has been confirmed that if I upgrade it will be a perpetual licence.

Only thing I am a little hesitant about is that I would have to activate 2018 version (Don't have to do this with current version) and as I will probably use 18 version for the foreseeable future, I am wondering if the activation can be a hurdle to overcome in the event that I might use up the activations, and wouldn't be able to transfer it to a new computer?

Another thing is, I have a dual boot with both windows 7 and 10, on same computer but a google search seems to confirm that will only use up one activation as same CPU id and Bios ID.

I do know about Macrium Reflect free and have used it, but find the Acronis GUI much simplier.

Many thanks for any help.

"perpetual license"?.. life of the device is is registered too? life of the pc?something that will work for ever, but if the os is upgraded...:( ?

Others that are free ans may work... the simplest... Redo Backup... only has two buttons and the second button is labelled Restore

copes with live on the fly backups http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

Now the weirder ones, partimage, G4L, and G4U. With these you can send your data down a network, some to a remote ftp machine, and apparently backup to usb too. I hope to test G4L out in the next few weeks. you get these portable ftp server, single exe files on the net which in conjunction could prove useful as a receiver

Acronis TrueImage 2018 gets a five-star review in this month's PC Pro magazine. A new feature is ransomware protection, which feature is supposed to prevent ransomware getting onto your machine and spreading from it. I hope it works!

Me? I use Macrium Reflect - by no means intuitive, but repays any work you put into setting it up. TrueImage has had problems in the past, and one hopes they are over them.

Ransomware protection? Err isn't the backup protection enough?

Or does the 2018 version need to be running in the background? Yet another process to slow the PC?
