Hi
More and more vpn's ip addresses are getting blocked from services such as iplayer, netflix and now for me, amazon echo.
This only really effects me while I am at home because I have a an Asus router with the OpenVPN server activated and this allows me to connect while away from home and I still connect to these blocked services without a problem.
I really want to have a VPN full time for home use.
Is it possible and what would be the downsides or security issues with swapping logins with another home user so they would go through my connection at home and I would go through theirs?
Thanks

Yes its possible. Down sides with exchanging details are that if you configure it wrong at your end they can get access to the PCs on your network, potentially getting access to all the files and documents on that PC.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have an Asus router with VPN active, the default settings don't allow access to other PCs, files and network resources.
The reason is the VPN clients get placed on a different subnet, the VPN uses address range 192.168.0.* whilst the home network uses 192.168.1.*
If I connect to mine via mobile I get IP address 192.168.0.10 and scanning for host on 192.168.0.1-254 gives no results, neither does 192.168.1.1-254, which means the two are completely isolated.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Downsides are, that if say you both have 80/20 FTTC, you are limited in bandwidth by his upload speed. If you are both doing stuff at once, you are even more limited.
Also this adds little in terms of security, it just means that if someone comes knocking at your door saying you have done X, you have to point the finger at your friend and prove it wasn't you.0
