How do you dispose of a set of kitchen knives?

Having a bit of a clearout and need to dispose of a large number of various sized kitchen knives. Some are quite scary like french cooks etc..
Any ideas on how I would safely dispose of these?

Hmm, that's a fair question.


Personally, I'd take them to the local tip - sorry, "recycling centre" - and chuck them in the skip for scrap metal. At least whoever sorts through it when it goes for recycling will be expecting lots of sharp bits, and they'll have a safe way of dealing with it. Either that, or just ask one of the workers there which is the best skip to throw them in.

Well wrapped up and in the bin though personally I'd take them to the tip.
