Declined for mobile contract

Hey everyone,

Got quite disheartened today as I applied for plusnet 30 day sim only contract through chitterchatter but got an email saying I failed a credit check. Which came as a shock :(

I earn over 30k a year, never had debt or made late payments. BUT I moved 5 month ago and I am currently renting a place. But I have changed my bank addresses and credit card as well.

Not sure what to do now. Any advice?

On electoral role? Check with all agencies.

Never had debt? Having debt and managing is what gets to a decent history.

Or Virgin Mobile since Plusnet use EE, maybe you chose Plusnet as the coverage is strong for you as Virgin use EE network too.

Well I got a credit card for that.

And first thing I did once I moved is registered to vote.

So you do have a credit history!

Right then what have your 3 credit reports said? Are you on the electoral register with them. You should be checking these regularly. Sicne it costs nothing these days there is no excuse. You should eve nsee from the searches which one was used to look deeper into.

I got a credit card around 3 months ago and I haven't checked any reports. Which 3 are you referring to?

If you have only had a credit card 3 months that is not much history.

Ok So you need to check your credit reports.

    Experian report here on MSE:
    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/creditclub

    Call-credit report on noddle:
    https://www.noddle.co.uk/

    And Equifax report from clearscore:
    https://www.clearscore.com/

Check them out and then you should be able to see any issues.

    Thank you :)

The Experian MSE came back all in green.
    - 953 out of 999
    - Affordability Score = Good
    - Credit Hit Rate - 80%

I will check the others later

Looks good, but please do look into the actual report in detail. It's the important part!

OK I might be getting closer to my problem. I checked all 3 sites as well as their reports and all is lovely :) No issues with my credit score apart tesco credit card doing a check on me with wrong address, using house number 35 instead of 36 but not sure if that would have a problem.

I just realised once I moved I changed all addresses apart NatWest which I used in the application to setup direct debit with, it was still under the old address. Do you think that might have caused the problem?
