Hi,
I'm looking to buy a family dog and was wondering if Mypetzilla would be okay to use?
Many thanks

And if you desperately want a particular breed and don't see one similar on Dogs Trust, your local RSPCA rescue centre or other local rescue, do a search online for the specific breed rescues.
Also see the Kennel Club - Find a Rescue Dog pages:
https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/services/public/findarescue/Default.aspx0 -
You can find a list of names and contacts for breed rescues on the Dogpages forums (www.dogpages.org) as well as listings by private owners needing to rehome or by some reputable rescues.
Please don't buy over the internet, as that is where unscrupulous breeders and puppy farmers operate.
If you don't want to take a rescue, .uk) )go along to a dog show and get to know breeders. No absolute guarantees, but people there are likely to recommend good breeders (there are good and bad among show people),so choose one recommended by several.
What breed do you want as some of us have contacts with rescues and may know what is available in general rescue.0 -
Don't trust the KC's accredited breeder scheme to find a good breeder as the promises of health testing is taken at the breeder's word and not checked, while good breeders don't get themselves listed as they don't need ads to find homes for their dogs and often have waiting lists.0

Strongly, STRONGLY advise on looking to rehome a rescue dog. There are some really, really great dogs in shelters who would make the perfect pet. Many have been abandoned through no fault of their own and deserve a second chance.
If you are wedded to the notion of buying a pup, definitely don't do so online. Ensure that you can see the mother and father, please, PLEASE try to not fund the scourge of puppy farmers by buying a dog off those kinds of people. The RSPCA have guides on buying puppies that are worth reading. https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/puppy/sales
Additionally, if you're looking for a pure breed/pedigree pup, be aware of breed specific health problems that the KC breeding standards help to perpetuate. You really, really don't want to be buying a puppy that is going to have a short and painful life because of irresponsible pedigree breeding. If you're looking for a German Shepherd, for example, try to make sure the parents were hip scored before breeding to try to avoid hip dysplasia in later life.
Good luck - I hope you find the perfect dog for your family, but I very much recommend going down the rescue route to do so rather than buying.0 -
Thank you for your advice guys!
We decided on adoption and visiting a mix breed dog on the weekend.
Thanks again0
