Payday loans - Guarantor

Hi,

I wife went as a guarantor for her brother with Amigo Loans. At first the default payments would have been £50 per month which I accepted. However without me knowing she has increased the loan several times and now the default amount is £165 per month. He is now no longer working and Amigo have now contacted me about paying this. They also say that he is in arrears of over £1000 and are looking for me to pay this and want me to complete an expenditure form.

I have advised them that I have intention of filling out any form and I will reluctantly only pay the monthly charge that I now seem to be liable for.

Does anyone have any advice or am I screwed until he gets another job.

thanks

Unless you are financially linked to either your wife or her brother, I can't see how you are liable. Do not pay the monthly charge unless you are liable. Where you may have issues is ownership of property e.g. television that could be used.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
