Hi Guys,
My wife and I finally exchanged on our property today (after 9 months of hell)
We need advice on how to sign up for the cheapest and best
-Water
-Gas
-Electricity
Suppliers.
What tips and tricks can you give us ?
Where do I start ?
Do we do this during exchange or completion ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ,
Thanks in advance ,

Water. No Choice just register with the supplier in your area
Gas & Electric. When you move in take meter readings and contact the current supplier. Don't sign up to any fixed deal with them. You can then go on a Price Comparison site and look for the best fixed deals. As you are new owners you won't know usage but you can use the OFGEM estimates, low/medium/high to work out a decent deal.
Whoever you sign up to always take regular monthly meter readings,0 -
You will be in a deemed contract from the day you complete, you can't switch supplier until you register for an account with the existing supplier.
There is no 'universal cheapest', because it depends on your region and kWh usage. If there was, we would all be on it. As above, use any comp site with your estimated annual usage (not monthly spend). No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

You don't need to do anything until completion.
You will have no choice over water - your solicitor should be able to advise you on this, as they should on the current suppliers of gas & electricity.
Did you know there is a really informative number of MSE articles on all sorts of things on this site, and here is one on how to get the best deal on gas and electricity

But you cannot switch supplier until you have a supplier.
Good luck!0 -
Now you've exchanged contracts on the property don't forget you'll need to insure it....0
