Just gas or leccy as well. As said above, everyone is differnt so there's no real average
I'd guess that most people wouldn't get awy with much less than £60 a month, probably more. The only way you can see what you are using and when is by reading your meters regularly (at least once a month) and sending those readings in to your suppliers(s) and checking your bills and statements. Do not accept estimated bills, get them corrected immediately.
It's also a good idea to set up a spreadsheet so you can keep your own records and make sure you download bills or statements and save copies.
When you start recoring what you are using and when it's being used you can then see exactly what is using it all and you can do something about it - dont just wait for a bill because by then it's too late you've used it.
You are now going into the most expensive time of the year and you'll be using around 60-70% of your annual consumption in the next 4-5 months so your direct debit will be taking that into account.
You shoud be looking at your consumption in kwh as recorded on the meter rather than your direct debit amount which is designed to average the cost out over a year.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

The bill has come in at £70 which is higher than I was expecting which is why I wanted to query.0 -
2 bed coach house (new build)
new boiler.
hightest temp is set to is 20degrees. Lower during day as no one in.
working during day.
gas cooker.
Given those conditions I would have thought your Gas bill should be around £30 a month(£360pa) obviously most of that in winter.
Electricity?? depends largely on appliance use.0 -

is that based on actual readings or on estimates (both for this and theprevious readings) and over what period - you suggest a month but that sounds high for this time of the year unless it's just a monthly DD payment or you've got some arrears or estimates..
Theres are too many variable so you need to be more specific than just how much it cost. Who is your supplier, what tariff are you on and how many kwh of leccy and or gas have you been charged for and the dates between the ACTUAL not estimated readings.
There are too many variables for a simpkle guessNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I am going to speak to British Gas to clairfy but I submitted a reading online and it is for end of Aug to end of Sept. The tariff is: [FONT="]HomeEnergy Secure Aug 2019.
As mentioned above highest thermostat is set to is 20 degress so this seems crazy high to me.

It's not the end of September yet so how can it be an accurate bill.
Were both readings (the one at the end of August (what date exactly) and the one supposedly at the end of September) actual readings. Check the bill to make sure that they are using the numbers that you've given them and dont have an E against them.
Most bills have either A for actual, C for Customer or E for estimated against the readings.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
What you think you should be paying is irrelevant. If the bill is based on the correct no. of kWh units (actual not estimated), and is billed at the correct unit and s/c rates, then it's correctly billed. It's easily verified by checking the bill against your meter readings.
If the earlier readings were estimated and the latter one actual, then you may well have received a catch-up bill.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
