Electricity/gas supply in new house
Options
Hi guys, I'm in the process of separating from my husband, and I get the keys to my new place on Monday (2nd October). Stupid question alert I'm afraid, but I have never had to set up gas/electricity supply myself as my husband has always dealt with that side of things. What do I do? Right now, I know there's electric storage heaters in the flat which I know cost a fortune so I'm hoping not to have to use them very often. I assume the flat has gas as well as electricity, but I'm not had this confirmed. I don't know who the previous tenants supplier is, or how to find this out, or if I'll even need to know. Would anyone be able to help me out with a bit of advice on how to go about setting up a supplier, how to know I'm getting the best deal, and anything else I may not be thinking about that I'd need to know. Sorry if this message sounds completely daft :-D

Details of how to find your energy supplier can be found here - https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/consumers/household-gas-and-electricity-guide/connections-and-moving-home/who-my-gas-or-electricity-supplier
As the flat has storage heaters it is unlikely to have gas central heating as these would have been removed and replaced by radiators.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
