Another problem - help!

For the last two days my when I switch on my computer the Kaspersky Internet Security is really struggling to load. I pulled the plug out of the wall four times yesterday as everything seemed to freeze thinking it would resolve the problem, but it didn't. It just seemed to be stuck on the "loading application" screen.

The bar at the bottom of the screen goes pale and I can't open anything else whatsoever.

I can't understand what has happened; it was perfectly fine until yesterday and didn't take that long to load. Could it be caused by one of their updates or something?

Is anyone else experiencing this and, if so, how do you make it stop?

Many thanks.

Pulling the plug may have corrupted it, had to fix several win10 machines recently because owners thought the updating do not turn off message was stuck. So they pulled the power and then it restarted and had to recover itself then start the install again... So taking even longer than the original update.

Switch it on and leave it to do its thing. After pulling the plug several times dont be shocked if it takes over 24 hours.

This is normally a bad update to the virus database. It can often be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. This may have to be done in Safe Mode (how you get there depends on your version of Windows).

Or failing that, this'll get shot of it:

No definitely pulling the plug did not corrupt it - it was corrupted long before I did that.

Until two days ago it was working just fine and then suddenly the Kaspersky has gone crazy. Even when I eventually get online the Kaspersky updates are taking ages to come in and slowing the computer to a standstill. Have contacted them about it, so will see what they say.

Thanks, this is what I am thinking it could be because it was working normally until a couple of days ago.

Is it necessary to uninstall Kaspersky with a link from the website rather than just the usual uninstall programs way of doing it?

As I still have a license that is valid, presumably I could upgrade to a newer version for nothing. Just hope their newer versions work okay with Windows 7:(

Your licence will still be valid. You can try uninstalling it in the usual fashion but its totally stuffed the removal tool will be your only option.

Kaspersky have come back and said to uninstall in the usual way - start/control panel/programs/uninstall and attached a link to download the 2018 version.
