Finding the correct rubber seal for a pop up plug

Hi all.
I have a pup-up (sometimes called up and down) waste fitting on my bathroom wash hand basin.
The mechanism works fine when I unscrew the top and compress it in and out but with it in place it's hard to push down.
I think that this is because the black rubber seal has gone a bit hard, so I've been looking for a replacement.
The name SILFRA appears on the plastic pop-up part and I've been searching the internet for a replacement. SILFRA have a non UK site and don't seem to supply spare parts. I've found very similar seals for sale but they all seem slightly different sizes to mine.
Mine is 41mm outer diameter, 30mm inner, 4mm thick, with the fin type seal fitted mid way between top and bottom. I've taken these measurements as carefully as I can with the seal taken off.
The closest I've got is one supplied by plumbers-mate-sales.co.uk and dimensions are 38, 30 and 4. Is this close enough to be the actual replacement?

Or does anyone know where I'm likely to get a replacement seal for a pop up made by SILFRA?
Thanks.

I'd go with the one you found on plumbers mate. It's rubber so it will stretch and be a snug fit. Alternatively, buy a new pop up waste. If I remember rightly, Silfra are Italian, I used to work for a company that bought their bath waste kits, but I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting a spare from them.0

Cheers for that.
I wish now that I'd quizzed the bathroom fitter about what makes of sink and bath kit he was fitting and where I could get spares. I might even have kept the boxes the kit came in. Too late now.
You say buy a new pop up waste - do you mean the whole thing? The actual pop up mechanism is built into the thing that I can unscrew from the permanently fitted waste part. Could I get a replacement top part that would fit, or is that unlikely.

Given your dimensions I would echo what Will said, it is unlikely that a seal in its new state would be 41 mm, so likely this has "grown" over time and 38 mm, whilst a "stretch" to fit would be fine. Just use some Vaseline, washing up liquid or similar as a lubricant.0

ta.
Yes, I meant buy a complete new basin waste including plughole and plug. There will be a nut under the basin holding the waste in place, you will have to undo that and disconnect the waste from the waste pipe. There will probably be a rubber seal/silicone between the plughole and the basin, making it water tight when the basin has water in it. Basin wastes aren't very expensive, up to £10ish, but may save you the time and fuss trying to get a replacement rubber seal from the manufacturer.0 -
Just had a thought...
In the trade the waste you've described is called a spring seal, clicker or a click-clack. A 'pop up' waste has a metal rod behind the tap body. When you move the rod up and down the waste 'pops up' or down. Sorry to be pedantic! hope you get it sorted0 -

I see what you mean. I searched and somehow just came on the terms 'pop up' and 'up and down' but yes, clicker or click-clack is more appropriate.
I've ordered one from plumbers-mate-sales

Thanks for taking the time to do that.0 -
I have a number of the click clack pop up waste plugs and they were supplied to me as a Hansgrohe part number but on looking under the chrome top I see the word Silfra stamped. I have now looked up the part as a Hansgrohe part and have located what I believe is the correct seal we are looking for.
Try this site - spares.hansgrohe.com - in the search box type 50100000 and that should take you to the entire plug assembly - identical to the Silfra, in fact it is a Silfra part but branded under Hansgrohe!
The part you want is number 2 with a part number of 97205000 i believe the cost is £4.50 plus a postage.
Good luck!0 -
Take the seal into your local B & Q they do replacement seals, might cost you a few pence more than the one you think fits but will get you up and running.0
