Water softener and RO system

We live in Dorset, a hard water area. I am considering a water softening system and a RO system.

I have done some online research, but as usual it has created more questions than answers.

I'm will be having the kitchen completely refitted in the house that will eventually be our family home. The heating system is a closed system put in a few years ago. We have a septic tank.

This does not seem to be a priority at the moment because it could be a couple of years before we live in the house full time. However, since I'm putting in the kitchen now I'm wondering:

1. Would putting in the systems now prove easier at this stage?

2. Do I need to consider the sink cupboard size to accommodate the system?

3. We are on a water meter, does it mean the systems will cost a lot to run?

4. Can I get a generic system from a plumbers merchant to keep cost low?

5. Am I right in thinking: The water softener system will fed everything except one kitchen (drinking) tap and this will be fed by the RO system?

6. We have a closed heating system, what do I need to consider?

7. We have a septic tank, what do I need to consider?

8. Can the systems be housed outside?

9. Can the systems be moved when one day I build an extension?

10. Is there some good websites for info and advice.

Any advice and information will be appreciated.
