No dvd sound in Windows Media Player

Hi,
Cant seem to get any sound when playing dvds in windows media player although when played via Vlc player sound is fine.
Any ideas??

You may not have the correct codec installed for WMP
You could try using The Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility to see if there is an issue0 -
I agree, it sounds like a codec thing, is it a proper dvd or a hookie download, if it's a copy most use divx compression, just search divx and get it, if it's a proper dvd have you the latest media player, I think they are up to 11, but only 10 on xp, (don't quote me on that), I don't know, but there are plenty of good dvd players to download.There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0
