Unauthorised credit search by Noddle / Totallymoney.com

I have just checked my monthly credit file and found that a search has been performed which I did not agree to.

When on Noddle itself I simply filled in 6 dropdowns to check eligibility out of curiosity, for anyone logged into Noddle it is this page https://www.noddle.co.uk/financial-products/credit-cards

It states that it is "powered by Totallymoney" at the bottom of the page. What I'm angry about is nowhere on the page does it inform you that a credit search is going to be performed or that it will be listed on your credit file.

I don't care of this matters or not from a credit score point of view, I'm more angry that a search was performed with no notification and no text on the page (even in the small print) to inform you.

I have emailed Totallymoney and Noddle, I want it removed. What can I do about this? go to the ICO? as I see it I didn't authorise it and I am angry that it has happened without informing me.

It’s a soft search nobody else sees it.

Check the terms and conditions of Clearscore it will be there that you agree. How else do you think they pay for their services when they give it to you for free.

It does say it in the terms now I've gone and looked deep in the site terms, but it didn't warn me on the page at all.

I wouldn't have minded if I had the choice to do it or not knowing that a credit search was going to be performed. I assumed that they made their money by referring you to others for credit and get a commission when you sign up, not that just a very basic eligibility dropdown with 6 questions puts a credit search on your file.

My main issue is that it should tell you on the page that a credit search will be done at the point of using the form, otherwise to my mind it is unauthorised. I genuinely thought Noddle were just using profile information they already knew as the page mentions nothing about you being credit searched by using it.

A soft search is just 1 you can see, a hard search is what lenders etc can see.

It warns you under the sentence " Check your eligibility for credit cards".

This is at the top of the page:

What did you think "Protect your credit score by finding out which cards you're likely to be accepted for before you apply. It only leaves a soft search, meaning it won’t affect your credit rating" meant?

And when you joined Noddle and agreed to their Terms and Conditions, what did you think this meant?:

Everybody's file gets about 5-10 soft searches listed on it a year. If you use a comparison site you get one. It's no biggie
