Credit score anomaly?

I am faced with a total anomaly and would be very pleased if someone can explain. Even though I had a very bad credit score I applied for a current account which was with Norwich and Peterborough and was very surprised when I was given a £500 overdraft facility, the member of staff advised me that I had a good credit score. That was a month ago and I have looked after the account very well, however I have been rejected by two mobile phone companies (that use different credit reference agencies) for having failed the credit score. What’s going on?

There are 3 credit reference agencies in the UK.

One explanationn is that they have used difference agencies and got different views.

The other explanation is that they have different criteria. You will never get to the bottom of their criteria unless you know someone on the inside.

My advice is to get all 3 credit reports (which you can do for free).
Don't pay the large sums advertised to get it on-line. Pay either £2 for the statutory report or get them for free. You may have to hunt around the websites a bit as they headline their more expensive services.

Then try to improve your credit score (read the articles on here) which may take some time.
