My grandmother used to starch bed sheets. Mind you, she used to starch our school uniform too and the shirts would stand up on their own. But it did make the sheets crisp.0

My mother bought me some white cotton sheets from an antiques shop. They are thicker and hardwearing, so that might be an option. Or looking in charity shops ?0
