Charter Savings: How is their online banking?

Is it accessible or is it down for maintenance often like BM?
Can money be transferred quickly and without "errors" or is it like PO?
Is the process modern or with lots of paperwork like FD or in-branch requirements like Ulster?
Do you recommend them or not?
Thanks

My guess is Birmingham Midshires, Post Office and First Direct? I reckon at least the last one is definitely right.

What you should be asking is if my money is safe up to £85k and the answer is yes. Not only that I have used them since day one and have got no complaints.
Are you American with all the abbreviations?

My elderly parents invested a substantial amount in one of their online one year bonds and managed to get themselves locked out of their account.
I tried calling them with my parents present and went through security but I prompted my mother for one of the answers and the guy advised us he was going to end the call and could not discuss anything any further and put the phone down.
So we now found with an account we could not operate and we had to make another call and started a complaints procedure to get it sorted but other than that it's been very good

Other than the lockout, how is the online service? Is it similar to any other banks in terms of looks, functionality?

I have no issues with their online service and if anything better than others I have.
It was the way they handled my parents situation which annoyed me

    Although annoying, very secure.

What I also like about Charter and also Shawbrook Bank is they will only pay a withdrawal into your nominated account.
    More security.

I've had a couple of accounts with them in the past when they were top of the tables and not had a problem opening, running or closing. I see they now have a 1.26 instant access.
  • Am a big fan of Charter Savings bank.

Their interest rates are competitive, and opening accounts and transferring money from and to your nominated bank account is simple to do online.

They dont seem to have a faster payment facility though , so you may have to wait overnight to see funds cleared in the account but you get an email to say when it is done.
