Grundig Washing Replacement - Same fault - Engineer visit

We purchased a Grundig GWN37430 washing machine on the 19th August from Curry's and delivered on the 23rd. It developed a fault within 2 weeks a was replaced no problem. The second machine has developed exactly the same fault, which is after a high spin the rubber seal melts against the steel drum creating a burning smell and a lot of smoke when the door is opened.
Grundig on the phone today were a bit cagier, saying they will send out an engineer and if no fault is found we would be charged. Fair enough, but what happens when he finds the fault? Am I entitled to a different replacement model of similar value? Or will the constantly replace with the same model?
They also asked was the machine hooked up to the warm or cold water feed -cold, it's the only one. They also asked who installed it. I did it myself, and the machine is really stable. A bit of vibration at 1400rpm but that's it. My old Bosch was in the same spot for 14 years!

Did you contact Grundig on the advice of Currys?
If so and providing that the fault is confirmed by the engineer then you have the legal right to reject the machine and get a full rend from Currys.
This is a right granted by the Consumer Rights act.0 -
As I understand it {and I could be wrong} but if it is the same fault on two machines within such a short space of time if the engineer finds the same you should be able to reject the goods for a full refund.0

Not quite your scenario, but this short extract from MSE's Consumer Rights guide may help:Know who's responsible
When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying "go to the maker instead", it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.0 -
No I contacted Grundig directly. I did with the first machine, and they gave me a reference number to contact Curry's for a lift and replace.
Would I be able to pay the difference and get a superior model? Or would it be a refund or direct replacement only?0 -
Just get a full refund and get a better machine, preferably from a better retailer. Try either Bosch, LG or Samsung (in no particular order) or, if you can stretch to it, a Miele.0
