I was too busy to post yesterday as I left home at 8.30am and didn't return until 10pm.

I did volunteering and work which were both fun and then DH met me after work and we drove to at NT place to meet aunt and uncle. We had coffee and chatted for ages in the restaurant and then wandered around the gardens in the sunshine, then went back to their house for dinner. So a very nice day overall :). DH brought two buttered bagels for me to eat on the way so I didn't need to buy lunch :money:. So we spent about £6 on coffees at the NT place and then about £3ish on drinks to take to aunt and uncle's house.

When I got home I saw Redo's post about the guarantor insurance with the useful links and that gave me great peace of mind as I was reluctant to part with our EF but couldn't cope with the anxiety of being a guarantor. With the insurance we can be a guarantor without the anxiety, so that's what we've decided to do :).

We rang the lettings agency today and asked them some questions. DS3 has already paid out of his own money what we thought was a deposit in November, but it turns out it was an agency fee of £360 . So by early June he still has to pay a security deposit of £693 and a month's rent in advance which is £462. So a total of £1,156 altogether .Then he wont' have to pay any more rent until early October.

I've no idea if he can afford this before his loan arrives in late September, but if he can't then we'll have to lend it to him. It's better than paying three months rent up front in addition to the security deposit though.

Hooray for guarantor insurance , and the knowledge of redo. At least you can now go ahead , with a peaceful mind. Your day sounded very nice yesterday , albeit very busy. The sun here has been lovely today , I hope you have had a more restful day x

This morning I did my Saturday saunter. I returned the skirt and top I bought so £41 will go back into my account in a few days :money:. Then I paid in a cheque of £54 which was a VAT rebate :money:. Then I paid in our small coin collection which was £7 :money:. As I only spent £10.08 I gained more money than I spent :D.

I spent £2.40 on the bus, £4.18 in Mr T on bananas, satsumas, grapes and bagels, £3.50 on second hand books, and coffee was free with my points card.

The money I gained will be distributed as follows: the VAT will be transferred into our VAT savings account towards the next quarter's payment, the £41 will be transferred into our Christmas savings pot and I've already transferred the £7 into the Christmas account, plus I added another pound just for the hell of it :).

It feels great to be feeding our savings pots instead of frittering money :T. I returned the skirt and top, but didn't look at any clothes and avoided clothes shops apart from that. I had to go into D3benh@ms to go to the loo, but I avoided their homewares section and their clothes section (I know my danger points :o). So I was feeling pleased with myself :A. I took £20 in cash and came home with £10. So that could be a lot worse.

Let's hope I can keep this up but if I can, who knows how quickly our pots could grow :).

Blimey. That’s some amount for a security deposit & agency fees. Multiplied by 4 tenants.
Good news on the guarantor insurance. Had no idea that you could get such a thing.

What a brilliant solution - I had no idea about the insurance either. Wonderful to have such a resource as thoughtful subscribers.

Had DD2 and DGS round today. DGS and I spent at least half an hour saying 'lubalubalubalub' then random words with 'poop' after them. So,'lubalubalubalub cabbage poop', 'lubalubalubalub television poop', blubalubalubalub sausage and beans poop'. Well at least DD2 knows I'm silly already !!

Finally caught up with your diary. I've been away for a couple of days and lots gone on!

That's great that you won't have to worry about being a guarantor because of the insurance. What a weight off your mind!:j. And what a wonderful place this DF Diary board is. I would never have known you could buy that type of insurance - clever old redo!:T

Your pots shaping up nicely too. I have the feeling that you'll never be a real fritterer again Hairy as you've had to budget so frugally in the past. You always seem to spot excellent bargains and also know when to stop!

    Have a good weekend.
