  • Thanks Beanie :). It feels like a drop in the ocean compared to what needs doing, but it's a good start :).

Elizabeth that was a very moving poem.

Hairy we had mice when we had 2 cats and a dog. We opened a cupboard with both cats sitting on the floor waiting on their food to be hand delivered to them by us staff. A mouse shot out the cupboard  and they all sat looking at it then back up to us, continuing to sit calmly waiting on the food bowls!!!! :rotfl::rotfl: They were useless as mice hunters.

I agree though it helps you throw things out thinking of their dribbly little bodies pitter pattering about on your stuff.

My advice would be to get yourself to screwfix or online and buy a large roll of wire wool (about £6) and start poking it firmly into any holes and cracks you find as you do your tidying. This will help cut down on any ingress holes. You may find the exterminator puts down poison and wants you to leave all holes open. This is because the poison makes them thirsty and the idea is they want to leave the house to find water then they die outwith the house. I certainly didnt see droves of them leaving the house searching for water so I wouldn't worry about plugging the holes as you find them. All you are doing is cutting down the potential holes as you will never find every single one as they can get through tiny holes. Keep up with both attacks and you will get rid of them. Also make sure furry moron isn't harbouring any in his stocks of bedding or food. Once you have had mice you become much more vigilant about keeping food and your stuff covered so your plastic boxes will be in use for years to come so are not a wasteful expense.

Just catching up with your week HHD - you've been very busy and I agree, when the mood strikes we need to make the most of it. I love de-cluttering, it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders when I have a proper sort out. I keep very few books or DVD's, the few I've got have been gifts that I don't like to get rid of, but I rarely read a book or watch a film twice so can happily give most things like that to charity.

We had mice at work years ago and they do like chocolate :o xx

Well done on all that decluttering :j

Many years ago, when I lived at home with my mum, we had mice in the loft. One night she came into my room to switch my light off (I'd fallen asleep with it on) and apparently there was a mouse on my pillow  Thank goodness I was asleep!

Another mouse story, I rescued one from my cat, it was shaking so I stroked it to calm it down and it bit me  It was so painful :(

    Have a good weekend xx
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Thanks Daisy :). We have poked some wire wool down some holes, but we need to de-clutter as I'm sure there there are plenty more holes! We do need to put the furry moron's food and hay in a plastic box, that's a good point.

    Thanks TF2 :). I feel like I'm losing a weight too when I de-clutter :).

You go from strength to strength. So impressive. Well done on tackling the mice. So easy for them to thrive in older homes. The decluttering will help on many levels.

    Enjoy your weekend
