My Christmas cards are still in the loft along with the tree & decs - I need to pull my finger out.
Re the lorry hitting the bridge - that is because they are using ordinary satnav & not one designed for bigger vehicles - cheapskates! They deserve the fine & I believe they can be considerable, they certainly are around here. Just think how much they could have saved. One bridge near here they charged about £100K to repair when it was hit even though it was no longer used.
I agree there's no excuse. Anyway they do have eyes in their head so surely they can see if a bridge is too narrow or too low .carbootcrazy wrote: »The vehicle belonged to a major national company:eek:, it wasn't just from a small business that maybe couldn't afford all the best kit. I've always loved maps and using them. I remember long family trips and journeys out in the car as a young child when my Dad used to let me be 'in charge' of navigation. I think he was just being kind, he probably already knew the route;) but he encouraged my love and use of maps. He was a fan of them too. As I got older I was always the one that companions nominated as the navigator, I expect because it was a chore they disliked but I like to think it was partly because it was my 'thing' and I could get us from A to B with no major problems or getting lost. I'm not boasting, it's one of the very few things (maybe the only thing:eek:) that I had/have a talent for.
I bet your dad was really proud of your navigation skills Carboot.
I like maps too, I used to do map jigsaws when I was a child (geek) that the old lady next door lent me and used to love making treasure maps :rotfl:.
However map reading in a car makes me travel sick so I also love our sat nav.

We have prime too, it's good as you get a lot of extras - photo storage, free kindle books, deliveries, amazon pantry, amazon music. It's well worth it in my opinion, and DH pays for it for my birthday so doesn't even cost me anything :T We also have BT tv but I'm going to cancel that as we don't use it enough. We've got a you view box from them and will be able to keep that to record stuff.

Thanks Jwil for the posting dates
. Prime does sound like it has a lot of extras.

This morning stepdad wanted to meet one of my mum's oldest friends before we did our food shop, at the supermarket we went to with my mum for 15 years. I was worried it would be upsetting, but thought it would be nice to see her and give her a Christmas card.
Well it was nice to see her, she's a lovely lady of 84, but it was also upsetting that my mum wasn't there. The most upsetting thing for me was going into the toilets because I always used to go in with my mum and we'd chat over the hand dryers. I had a little cry in there because it made me feel so sad. So I don't think I'll be doing that again in a hurry.
I spent £58.24 on the week's food :money: which wasn't bad because I bought chicken nuggets and sausage rolls for DS3 for when he comes home.
I had to buy a rubber and a new grief journal, so that came to £2.50. Then I bought a few Christmas treats: Pr!ngles (half price), bread sauce (two for £1), chocolate fingers (50p off) and two packs of H€roes for the children at school (two for £4) :money:. I hope I'm allowed to give the children the chocolates, otherwise DH and the DC will have to eat them :rotfl:. So a total of £7.12 on Christmas treats.
This afternoon I may wrap the few presents I have and I could take up some jeans I've had for a year and never wornor do some ironing if I can be bothered.
No YG money yet or any other money. But I got an 80p bonus from PA so I've cashed out £10.97 :T.
I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I've wrapped up thirteen presents, which took a surprisingly long time! It was just little things like chocs, tins of biscuits, shower gel and a calendar. I haven't bought any main presents yet. It will save time later though to have wrapped up the little ones.
As soon as we get paid I want to order the main presents. I've had a list from DS1, DS2 wants a surprise, and DS3 hasn't yet answered my question as to what he wants for Christmas. There's a budget of around £50 per child once (if) we get paid.
I've put the dishwasher on, folded up the dry washing on the clothes horses and put the next load on. This can only get worse when DS3 gets home.

Used to do - whoops - I still do. They are my next favorite after Wasgijs. In fact I am fairly certain that my Christmas present wasgij was delivered today as my presents are one of the few things my son puts on his own account as I have prime & cashback on my cc. As the delivery guy asked me if I was old enough to drink I suspect my other favourite present (whisky) has also been delivered. But I am not admitting to hearing either parcel either rattle or splash!0 -
What's a Wasgij? I'm out of touch
.
One day I'll do jigmaps again, probably if I can ever afford to retire. Do they still make them? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

So lovely of you to think of the children for treats.
Well done with all your Christmas prep. Slowly but surely you have got there. It can't have been easy as your budget is tight but you've done it anyway. Well done.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
