Isn't it interesting how we feel cold differently. I have an electric blanket for the bed as well!

It is very odd. I'm lucky I guess because I save on heating, but I do suffer in the summer with being hot and bothered. DH feels the cold more than I do!Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Although I feel the cold I much prefer the colder seasons than the summer. I just can't cope with the excess heat and never have been able to:eek:. This last summer was a nightmare for me:eek:. I've suffered from heatstroke on foreign holidays, I was even hospitalised once in Australia, and have suffered a lot with prickly heat rash which caused small blisters especially between my fingers and other very inconvenient places over the years even in UK summers.
I much prefer the cold weather as I can add and remove extra layers as necessary, although I suffer from very cold hands and apart from wearing gloves indoors I can't see a remedy for that one:(. I have a friend who suffers from Reynaud's Disease which makes her fingers really turn blue in winter. I definitely don't have that but mine go whiteish and are painful when I warm them up too quickly afterwards.0 -
I too feel the cold, I'm never without a jumper or cardi on even during the summer.
DH laughs at me because during the summer, I still have to be under the quilt to sleep regardless of how hot it is0 -

Have you tried cashmere gloves Carboot? My mum gave me some fingerless one which are thin, but very warm and soooo soft. You would need ones with fingers I think. Expensive but maybe a good investment? My mum gave me some sheepskin mittens once too which are so warm that they feel heated! My mum was always buying me lovely things, she was so thoughtful :heartsmil
I get a heat rash on the back of my neck when it's hot and have had heat stroke in the past. I don't think Australia would agree with me . I'm better adapted to cold climates. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Like you Hairyhand I think the fingerless cashmere gloves are the key. I use Turtledoves. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

They're lovely aren't they and you can type and write wearing them, perfect for indoors.

I did my weekly food shop this morning. It came to £59.31 which is within our £60 budget. I had to pass on some tempting Christmas food bargains though as I only had £60 and £40 of that was DS1's contribution from his ESA
. We'll be at the food bank next week if someone doesn't pay us
.
DH had a sales meeting today with a new lead. If they go for it then that would help our budget enormously, so fingers crossed, but we'll have to wait and see.
DH had another letter from Vanquis Bank. They won't be happy until we've taken out a credit card to "rebuild our credit score". They're offering £1000 with an APR of 39.9%. Strangely enough we're not tempted! Although if they knew our income this month they would probably withdraw the offer with a hollow and mocking laugh.

DH heard back from his meeting and the lead wants to sign up for six months :T. They will pay monthly, so that will cover the morgage for six months at least :j. We needed some good news as we lost a similar regular amount last month. So DH has done well .
If he could make a couple more sales like that it could turn our finances around.
I need to do some meter readings now and submit them. I suspect we've used less electricity and gas since DS3 went to uni. We're saving £20 a week on food.
It's three months today since my mum died. It feels longer. It's the longest time I've been teetotal since I was sixteen. I can't say I've missed alcohol. I've still not got much appetite either. I'm sure it will get back to normal eventually. It must be the shock.

Thanks very much, HH, for the suggestion of wearing cashmere gloves:T and doingitanyway for endorsing them and mentioning a brand:T
I've never heard of them before and wouldn't have imagined that you could write in them. Sound just the job and I'll seek some out if they aren't eye-wateringly expensive. I already have some fingerless gloves but they are just the basic thick wool ones and totally useless for anything like writing. I wear them sometimes if I'm just watching TV in the evening but even then I have to take one off to grip my cup handle when I have a drink:eek:
Your Mum sounds like she was a lovely, kind lady, HH, to have bought you such thoughtful gifts:)
Great news on DH's success with the client:T. Let's hope it's just the start of a run of good fortune for you both:beer:0
