Who knows how much Covid19 young children carry around, most recent evidence suggests not much, but you have been doing your very best to minimise the possibilities of catching it, and I'm sure you think the effort has been worth it. Just more relaxing to be better protected.
I'm sure I don't get the mentality of anti-vaxxers. There is always a small cohort of people who are unable to have the vaccine because of eg anaphylaxis, but why wouldn't you want to be safer if you can ? Do sane people really believe Bill Gates is inserting nanotechnology bundled with a vaccine !!!
Another thing that is really riling me at the moment is the proliferation of 'protests'. What do these people think they're doing??? I'd fight to my last breath for the right of free speech but our 'normal' rights have had to be curtailed because of a killer illness that has driven our country (and much of the world) to its knees. There is no such thing as the 'right' to meet up en masse (without masks or social distancing in the majority of cases in London yesterday) when gatherings are illegal and downright dangerous. There were only 30-odd arrests yesterday. In one European capital yesterday the police were using water cannon to disperse the 'protesters'. According to a poll I saw this morning the majority of people in UK are incredibly angry about people who take part in big protests at the moment, especially as finally, we can see a way out of this endless lockdown scenario unless idiots who flout the law ruin it for the rest of us.
Sorry, HHoD, for the rant and for hijacking. I just feel so angry at the moment I could explode. Like the saying 'should get out more'! Chance would be a fine thing.

Or at least proper isolating when you come into the UK - not at home but in isolation centres, where you are taken to straight off the boat/plane/tunnel, not mixing with people from different planes etc or using public transport to get there.
. I hope the government is sensible about this. I know people want to go abroad this summer, but if they do they risk bringing back new variants which all the vaccinated people may not be protected from, and then the death rate would go up again and we'd be back in lock down.

School sounds very full-on but you are managing just fine.
Good to have you back posting.. I do feel very relieved to be vaccinated as I've been putting myself at risk for a whole year now.

foxgloves said:I agree, HHoD & BB - I think travelling abroad could be a real problem. I keep hoping it won't be allowed so as not to put progress in jeopardy, but I bet it will be. Or if it is banned, or tough measures put in place for returnees, it will probably done far too late, messing up people's plans & yet more 'shutting the stable door after the horse has long gone'.
Fingers crossed that Johnson has a burst of common sense, but not holding my breath.
F x. I hope the government don't give in to pressure from the Covid Recovery Group (who appear to me to be completely barmy) and allow travel abroad this summer, but like you I'm not holding my breath 🙄.

It's actually four vaccinated people in our house 💉💉💉💉 as DH had his three weeks ago and DS1, DS2 and I were vaccinated this week 😁.
I don't understand anti-vaxxers either, they seem to live in a state of fear and suspision and not trust the official news outlets. I more or less trust the BBC and accredited scientists to tell me the truth, but the anti-vaxxers would rather trust some nutter on social media 🙄 .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Fidelia said:Great to hear you and 3 out of the 4 men in your house have had their first jabs, HH. Which one did you get? DH and I had our Pfizer one at the very small nearest 'cottage' hospital which is only used nowadays for outreach clinics. I'd never been inside it before but have driven past many times and admired the 'blast from the past' exterior.so was intrigued by what it would be like inside. Everything ran like clockwork, I was very impressed. The only boring bit was being told to sit in a very cold and draughty verandah-style waiting area for 20 minutes after the jab before we were allowed to leave! I've never known time pass so slowly. I asked the volunteer sanitising the chairs after each person left if I could go and sit in the car instead but he said no. I suppose it was to see if anyone had any extreme reaction to the jab. DH is booked for his second dose in early April, I've to wait a bit longer for mine. I'm glad the weather is turning a bit warmer than the first visit, at least the snow should have gone.
I just had a slight tenderness at the site of the injection which only lasted a couple of days and certainly didn't bother me. It only hurt when I touched it, a bit like a bruise feels. DH had no reaction at all, unlike his Flu jabs when he always.gets an achy arm.
I worry about the whole holiday 'thing'. If less people are travelling abroad they'll probably be holidaying in UK instead. I know the tourist industry could do with the boost but I'm dreading our lovely Cumbria being over-run. We are just outside the main tourist areas here but the roads everywhere you go are often in a state of gridlock in high summer. And don't get me started about inconsiderate parking and litter louts!. I had the Oxford/Astra Zeneca jab and so did DH and DS1, but DS2 had the Pfizer jab. I'm glad you didn't have much in the way of side effects with yours.
The holiday thing is a worry. If people are holidaying abroad then they're not clogging up beauty spots in the UK, but I fear that the whole vaccine programme could be undermined by foreign travel bringing in new variants, so I'd rather cope with too many holiday makers in Devon than face that. We'lll just have to try and find less well known and off the beaten track places to go to so we can get away from all the tourists. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I slept really soundly last night as I felt exhausted despite sitting on the sofa all day! This morning I feel really tired, achey and a bit under the weather, despite such a good night's sleep. It must be side effects of the vaccine 🤔. It's worth it to be protected though, as long as I'm well enough for school on Monday. DH and DS1 are telling me to do nothing today so I may just do that. DS1 has been making me cups of tea and DH is going to do my ironing today ☺.
Whilst I'm relaxing I'm making plans for the garden now it's spring. It's my birthday next week (my second lockdown birthday 🙄) and I want to spend my birthday money on garden stuff 🌹🌻🌺🌼🌳🌲. I want to buy a dwarf cherry tree for the corner where two borders meet. I've found one on the RHS site called Prunus incisa 'Kojo-no-mai which is a dwarf variety, so I've asked DH to order it today so it may hopefully arrive by my birthday. I've also asked him to order two nesting boxes, one is painted powder blue and one is green, they have proper little pitched rooves and they'll look lovely on the fence 🦅 🕊. In the Easter holidays, a week after my birthday, I can plant the cherry tree and ask DH to hang up the nesting boxes. I'll also paint the bug hotel powder blue 🐝 🐞and ask DH to hang it up. I also want to buy a dwarf fir tree for a big blue pot we have that needs a bit of height in it and maybe some ceramic pots that are a half moon shape to hang on the wall. Someone on DIA's diary said that with a small garden you need to go upwards, so that's what we'll be achieving with my plans and our tall fences lend themselves to this.
We paid our builder for the new length of fence yesterday so it's good to get that largeish bill paid. I'm looking forward to payday next week now, which happens to be on my birthday 😁.
I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday 🙂 .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It is dd birthday this coming week and like you the 2nd one in lockdown. I have no idea what we can do to make it special for her. She won't be with her friends on the day as, unlike schools, most home education groups have not yet resumed, so yet another day at home with her brother and parents.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I felt absolutely rubbish the day after my vaccine but worth it for the protection and it was only for 24 hours. Garden plans sound lovely 😊I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

To BB:
It's tough re birthdays. I had a special one last year, but don't feel I really had it as no meal out, no seeing family.
Cake is always good !!! Obviously don't know how old she is, but could consider:
IOU's for later in the year,
a day of saying 'yes',
whole family dress up,
lots of balloons,
Zoom/FB Messenger video calls and karaoke,
afternoon tea,
make a chocolate pizza,
can any family or friends come to the end of the driveway with a birthday banner ?
Hope DD enjoys her birthday despite everything !6
