DH is self isolating of course, but we had an disagreement today about whether he should go to the barber when he next needs his hair cut. I said he should try and cut his own hair at home rather than risk infection and he got annoyed and said he had to go to the barber or his hair would look awful. I pointed out he isn't seeing customers face to face anway, but that didn't seem to cut any ice. That's the second tiff DH and I have had today and I've only been home a few hours. I think this virus situation is making us both a bit tense

Delichon said:I'm expecting an Asda order today and when I amended it about 10 last night a few of my previously ordered items (ordered on Sunday) flagged up as now Out of Stock/unavailable. Looked as if the rest was likely to come. I appreciate that it is a rapidly shifting situation but I had hoped their website would be accurate. Just received an email telling me what is/isn't coming and about 15 ordered items are now not available. If they were still showing as available at 10 last night AFTER the local store that fulfils the orders was already closed for the day where have they disappeared to in the meantime??? The missing items include bread, regular milk, washing-up liquid, flour and other essentials. I wasn't stocking up, just getting what I need in a regular fortnightly shop. Grumble over, sorry to be a moaner.
Wishing everyone who visits this diary a healthy and stress-free day. Take care, all xxxFinally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I had trouble sleeping last night
. I was feeling really tense and couldn't stop thinking about the virus or school. I had to deal with a particularly troublesome pupil and I always look back and think could I have handled the situation better
. So it was after midnight when I fell asleep. My shoulders and neck feel stiff and full of aches and pains this morning.
I am worried about us accessing the food and other things we need in the weeks to come. I am worried that one of my family members will become ill. DH has diabetes and high blood pressure, DS1, DS2 and myself all have asthma. So all four of us are in the high risk group at the moment. I am still going to school though because we need money to pay bills and buy food. It's a risk but I have to take it.
Here comes the positive bit.
I think the trouble is that we're dealing with uncertainty and we have to get used to uncertainty. As the situation appears to be changing daily we can never acquire the certainty that we crave. So we have to try and adapt our minds to a constantly changing situation. It's easy to feel frightened and full of doom and gloom. But the fact is that many of us won't catch it and out of those that do most will recover.
I'm not going to stop talking or reading about the virus and the effects of it, as I don't wish to ignore reality and knowledge is power. But I am going to set aside some regular times each day to read my book, look for cute pictures of bunnies and kittens, and look at beautiful pictures of nature. This will give my mind and body a chance to relax and regain some normality.
I hope everyone has a good and a safe Wednesday.

Thanks so much for your positivity, HHOD. I agree, it is the uncertainty that's worrying us. Best just be sensible, take the advised precautions and just soldier on. No use us all getting into a state about what might happen but probably won't.
DH is often quoting whoever said (misquoting someone like Hemingway who in turn was misquoting Shakespeare in Julius Caesar I think)
''A coward dies a thousand times, a brave man only once''
He says it when I get myself into a tizz about something which will probably never happen. I've started quoting it back at him as he worries about what-might-be a lot more than I do.8 -

My positivity - I'm not flying all over the world, and despite being confined to the house, it means I'm getting to spend time at home, and will probably have a few months where I can spend time in the garden which I love. On a global scale, this also means that air quality is improving and maybe the climate is in with a faint chance of recovering, particularly if a significant proportion of office-workers stay home even after this is over! I suspect I'll be travelling a lot less in future.8

It’s good to try and think of the positives and do as many normal things as possible. It’s difficult I know but worrying won’t change anything just make it worse.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
