Back & Decker strimmer repair

I bought a Black & Decker GL7033 strimmer after reading some great reviews. It hasn't been used much but is just out of warranty . I got it out today and I the icable inside the strimmer connecting the head to the motor / handle inside it looks to have snapped. 2 questions:-

1. Can this be repaired or does it need a specialist part?
2. Any ideas how to get into the strimmer? My neighbour took out all t he visible screws but we don't know how to get the handle off so that the strimmer case can be split apart. Any ideas?

Looking at the picture, there may be some screws under the name labels. They are likely to be Torx screws (to prevent DIYers taking things apart!). They can be removed by buying a Torx set.
