Estate agent - would you complain?

We're relatively satisfied with out estate agent (apart from the fact they haven't sold our house yet!), but on 4 occasions now we've come home to an unlocked front door. It is a door that you can't open when shut, but isn't deadlocked until you actually lock it, so it would be easy to break in when left like this. We have mentioned this to them twice but it is still happening.
Also twice this week they've done viewings without letting us know - one was following on from a viewing we did know about so not too bad, the other was today and we weren't expecting them at all. If they'd been an hour earlier they would have caught me getting out the shower!
Is this a big deal or not? We struggle a bit with the idea of strangers wandering round out home so we don't know if we're overreacting.

I personally don't think you are over reacting. If they are coming to your house they should be leaving it secure when they leave. Your insurance could be invalid otherwise
Also unless you have given them 100% free reign then I would expect them to check with you that viewings are convenient or at the very least just let you know. You could have been halfway though a party, family emergency, had visitors etc.0 -
If you got burgled, insurance would be fun and no forced entry, front door unlocked.0

* Surely, your front door doesn't open directly into the shower?
Back to your question, yes I'd complain / /0 -
It's a very big deal. My EA left my back door unlocked. I went nuts at them purely because it invalidates your insurance so if anything happens you are totally stuffed.
Tell them it's not on and if it happens again you will complain to head office and move EA immediately.0 -
Would I complain? Too right I would.
In writing, so they couldn't wriggle out by conveniently 'forgetting' a telephone conversation.0 -
I'd would have rang and politely reminded them on the first occasion.0

Yes I would complain. We have recently sold a flat and on numerous occasions we have been told by neighbours the new owner had been allowed the keys by our estate agents and had been allowed to go in unaccompanied. He turned up the other day when we were packing up. Not a word of warning by estate agents that they had given the key out to him.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We had the EA booking in visits without telling us - simple solution was to take the keys off them. They then had to phone to get the keys30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0

I would be taking the jets back from them pronto and insisting on viewings to be done with you in attendance at all times. Then once your minimum contract time is up I'd be moving estate agents. Once would be enough for me0
