Ecotricity vs National Database

I moved house in January and gave various meter reference numbers to my new supplier, Ecotricity, as they couldn't find me on the national database.
Worryingly, I was told that my number had been assigned to the house two doors up, but was now OK (in January).
I'm trying to swap from Ecotricity as I find them expensive, but as they haven't updated the national database I keep missing out on better deals, which is infuriating, because they should have updated the database when I switched to them.
1 - is there any way I can expedite this myself by providing various references on the meter and the valve adjacent to it?
2 - am I paying for someone else's gas consumption - ie how do they know they have the right info now?
3 - can someone at MSE reset my 'swap' info on the 'cheap energy club' as I'm stuck in limbo on there until the database has been updated.
Thanks!

    1. Only your supplier can arrange to amend the national database.
If necessary, following the suppliers complaint procudeure will expedite the amendment.

    2. If the bills you receive have your meter readings on, then its almsot certainly from your meter.
Your gas bills should include the Meter Serial Number (as well as the Meter Point Reference Number) - The Serial number should also be on your meter - check it's the same.

    3. You will need to email the CEC - details available via the CONTACTS link at bottom of page ;)
(now provides you with a webform for contact - but email address is still available from the CEC FAQ page :))
