Beko Fridge Freezer running continuosly

Hi

I have an approximately 6yr old beko Fridge Freezer model cda540. For the past couple of weeks the compressor has been running continuosly and is very warm to touch, as is the part that seacoasts the fridge and freezer compartments. The fridge and freezer are otherwise cool/frozen, and the freezer died not need defrosting whilst the fridge does have a small amount of ice fishing rewards the top.

My electricity bills seem to have jumped up too, which can't just be a coincidence.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue may be and how to fix it?

With thanks

    6 yrs from a Beko?
  • Hilarious! :rotfl:

Thanks for your reply Firefox. I have just checked and there does appear to be some liquid near to the compressor. I was hoping it was something less terminal like the fan motor or thermostat that I could replace :(

I will get a replacement ordered. Is there any risk in the meantime that means I should shut it off?

    Thanks again

Knowing the actual temperatures inside would give a better idea (-18 to -20 in the freezer, 0 to +3 inside the fridge), there's usually a tray on top of the compressor which catches water from the drainage hole inside the fridge.

As said, usually not worth repairing if the compressor/etc has a leak.

Beko are a good 'inexpensive' brand & at 6 years old you will have got your money's worth out of the machine.
I would have thought they are as reliable as any machine.
Buy another one if you are strapped for cash.
