Can anyone help me with my smart meter from british gas ?

Im currently switching from british gas to octopus.energy i have smart meters fitted by british gas over 8 monthsand they work fine but.... octopus energy website says it can not make use of the smart meters.
I have to send in meter readings myself but the problem i have is i dont know how to access the meter readings on these new boxes installed by british gas.
Ive searched all the FAQ`s on british gas website and can not find any info on how to read the meter boxes myself.
Just wondering if anyone know how to access them, both my leccy and gas box have 2 buttons one red and one green A/B ........ ive pushed them a couple of times but cant seam to see the readings. They seam to display the time and date but finding the readings is a challange unless im doing it all wrong :S

If you were previously with British Gas, and they had installed a smart meter, here are some instructions on how to read the meter:

Electricity - Press the green 'A' button in the top right-hand corner to step through the displays, until you reach a screen that says 'TOTAL ACT IMPORT'. The number on this screen is your electricity meter reading.

Gas - Press the red button to turn the screen on. Then press the red button again until it says 'meter index'. The number on this screen is your gas meter reading.
