Credit default

Hi, i'm trying to find out which debt collection agency a debt that is in my name was sold to. Any ideas as the original company Talk Mobile say they don't know who they sold it to?

Here is a summary of my situation...

I have only just moved back to the UK (August 2017) and checked my credit report with Equifax. I can see that I apparently owe money to Talk Mobile. After calling Talk Mobile twice, I have been told that I don't owe anything. Yet Equifax assure me that they have been in touch with Talk Mobile and I apparently owe £191 pounds because I stopped paying something in december 2014. I have no idea what this is and of course I will pay it if it a valid debt but no one can tell me from carphone warehouse or talk mobile what it is and how to pay it.

I did contract a telephone in August 2011 and due to personal circumstances I moved abroad in October 2011 but I continued to pay the telephone for what I believed was a 24 month contract until August 2013.

Please help me as I have no other bad credit history and having this default on my file is preventing me from getting a mortgage.

To add to the confusion, on my credit report it says I owe £109 and that I stopped paying in Sept 2013 but when I raised the dispute with Equifax they informed me that Talk Mobile has said it is actually £191 that I owe and I stopped paying something in December 2014. I am at a loss as I have repeatedly tried to find out what this debt is and how I can pay it but nobody can tell me. I have asked Equifax to tell me who they are in contact with at Talk Mobile but they refuse to give the details so I have no idea who I need to talk to to sort this out.

    Hi,

If the original creditor don't know who they sold it to, and the new owner is not reporting on your credit file, there is not much more you can do, unless the new owner starts chasing the debt.

I would put in a formal written complaint to talk mobile, as the information will be there somewhere, you just need to get past the call handlers, and find someone who knows whats going on.
