Plumbers cement-whats the correct name for it?

Hi,
I got the gasget changed between the actual burner and boiler on a oil fired unit, and a type of cement (for want of the correct name) was used to seal around the outsides, kind of creamish in colour.
I noticed that there is a slight crack in the cement and its possible to see the flame inside the burner unit where it goes into the boiler, when its working.
Just need a small amount of this cement to fill in the crack, if anyone knows the correct name for it.
Many thanks.
