Anyone on this thread interested in discussing current affairs?

There's a forum on the site called Discussion time. I recently carried out an age survey on there and there wasn't a single person in the 18-24 group. I think the forum might benefit from a wider range of opinions, especially in view of the degree of polarisation in views and priorities between the young and old these days.

This is not the right board for your topic. If you aren't getting responses from the age group you want to hear from on DT then take the discussion to a more appropriate forum (for example, The Student Room). People come to this board for practical help.

I disagree, anyone interested in helping students should encourage them to get involved in debating current affairs and having a voice in public society. Moreover I wasn't encouraging them to debate such issues on this board but another more appropriate one.

The reason why so many young people have financial issues is because they have been poorly served by successive governments over the past few decades. By becoming involved, and perhaps voting, they may start to address the causes rather than the symptoms.

Perhaps before you reply, you should think carefully why the sort of post below is appropriate on this forum rather than one which merely points out the lack of young people on another particular board, where these conversations really WOULD be appropriate.

Mobilise and motivate - abolish Student Loans with Labour

Election Year 2015 - Voting can be moneysaving!

I don't think we should poach people from other sites onto MSE as you suggest.

I think agrinnall was suggesting that you post on another forum, not that you try to poach their members.

This board is very very quiet. Any thread on here is going to get limited responses.

Can you think of any ways to attract more younger people?
  • According to the latest poll from MSE, there are at least 481 members on this site aged between 19 - 25, (18 and under, 43 votes). An overall percentage of 4% of members are aged between 19-25.

However, although I'm not in that age bracket, I'm interested in current affairs and i have been a student if that's any help? :)
