New Garage Door

Hi
We are getting quotes for a new steel up and over canopy garage door.
We have had a quote for £765 and this includes a rubber weather shield for the floor and a 2 point locking system.
My question is does anyone think it is worth paying extra for the 4 point locking system and do you know if Fort Doors are good quality garage doors?
Thanks

Are Fort really a manufacturer? Their website is useless because there is nothing in the brochure about engineering, quality, accreditation, or manufacturing locations. So I find the brochure worrying - it appears to be typical retail dross aimed at the home improvement market. Further worrying is it is out of date - would a competent company be posting a 2015 brochure?
Make your enquiries. The company may be fine, and just unprofessional. That is fine by me if the product is good - but the brochure is dismal!0 -
Thanks, not sure how to make enquiries other than seek reviews?0

Phone them, ask them and get things in writing. Similarly you could email. Any genuine company will be most willing to guide potential customers - they want your business. Similarly any company proudly claiming Made In UK should be keen to back up the view. You may even get an invitation to the manufacturing locations.
Any reluctance or evasiveness on the part of Fort will guide you on what you should be doing.0 -
Thank you much appreciated.
We could get a Hormann for round about the £1000 mark would you recommend that make as its more well known?0 -
Hormann seem fine. They took over the Garador Yeovil factory that made doors and they seem fine. Cardale were around for years and had a good name. They still exist so check them out too. I have no recent experience of them but ask, and do due diligence, and I suspect things will be fine.0

Hormann are great and are the leading manufacturers of garage doors all across mainland Europe. As said above, the also bought out Garador.
I have a Hormann 50mm insulated sectional garage door with electric opener and it's brilliant! Not cheap by any means, but you do get what you pay for with these things.
Oh, and the Hormann has a 10 year warranty (if I remember correctly), and they are not a company who will disappear overnight either, so you can be sure if you have a problem they will still be around in a few years to sort it out.0
