Hello.
I have a thread in the home section about buying a cctv syster for the home.
I went for this one.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Security-Megapixels-Ethernet-Surveillance-installed/dp/B01KNERMNU/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1506064474&sr=8-12&keywords=h.view+cctv
Even though it's H.View branded after doing lots of googling for installation help i came accross Sannce and Annke products and there help sections were very good and nearly the same setup as the H.View cctv i have.
I have a semi house and will put a camera at the back, side door and one at the front of the house. I was going to put the NVR in the upstairs front bedroom(spare bedroom used for watching footie and the pc is in there) and run the cables through the soffit and the loft into the bedroom. The option of going in the front lounge is awkward as bay window, render at the front of house so cables would have to be over front prch and rose bushes by bay window and where cables enter house are hedge/roses and then drill through wall not easy/ideal.
I was thinking of putting the NVR in the loft but how would i go about accessing the set up options and viewing recordings from my pc/smart phone? I have it all set up on the bedroom floor connected to an old monitor to check it all works and it has a usb mouse connected but if i put the NVR in the loft i am not sure if i will still be able to set it up remotely.
I have used a pc and smart phone to view the cameras as when i install the cameras outside i want to see where they cover as i dont want to be going upstairs all the time to check. I will have somebody with me so the idea is they/me can check the cameras on a tablet/phone live.
A long post, sorry for that.

Yes it does.
I have used the Xmeye app on my smart phone and the CMS software that came with the H.View NVR/cameras but the layout on the 2 seems different to the NVR using the monitor and mouse.
I could use a usb extension lead from loft to bedroom and attach mouse to that but my tv doesn't have vga port only hdmi and when i set the NVR up i could not get a picture on the tv so hooked upto a monitor and changed hdmi output and i had a picture on the tv but for only 5/6 secs and then it went funny and no picture.
It was an Argos special from about 10 years ago still works.0 -
I fairly recently installed an IP CCTV system by Swann, it came with pre-terminated leads which need quite a large hole to feed the RJ45 plugs through. Rather than taping up the connections outside (their cameras come with a short fly lead), I used weather resistant junction boxes from Screwfix, item 63295 at £1.59 each. Also, be aware that network cabling is mostly not weather resistant, for outdoor runs you need proper outdoor grade cable to avoid future problems. I drilled walls to feed the cables, routing via air vents under the eaves seemed easy, but in practice at this house it wasn’t.
The recorder is in a spare upstairs room, the fan in my Swann unit runs constantly and is quite noisy, hope they aren’t all that irritating.
I also found it worthwhile using a UPS to filter the mains supply to the recorder, an APC 700VA unit from eBay at £65 plus postage (item 282656288837) works very well and is silent in use... no more hiccups in recordings from spikes in the mains.
Make sure you can reach the cameras with a cobweb brush, spiders love cameras!0 -
Its not the cameras themselves that spiders love - if the camera has night-vision on it that's both a bonus and a problem - a bonus because you can see what's going on under cover of darkness but a problem because most bugs will gravitate towards the infra-red from the camera and because of that its where the spiders build their webs to catch the bugs - right over the field of vision of the camera.0

The connectors are about 15mm round and mine came with a twist lock weaterproof cover but i have also got some weatherproof boxes which i will put these joins inside.
I have been in the loft today and it will be a hard job as there is only about 4/5 inch's of space between wallplate and roof and i have to lay on me belly to do that so not good so far.
I have heard/read a lot about spiders and cameras so i will be ready with my long duster.
As for the NVR in the loft how should i cover/protect it from dust and rubbish that moves about in the loft. The loft is 3/4 boarded but is an old roof of say 70 years old but has no leaks that i know of. I have an old dvd player with the insides missing and i was going to put the NVR inside that as there is no back for the dvd.0
