Another broken washing machine help question please

Hope someone can advise us .We have an Indesit washing machine misbehaving
Its less than 3 years old so hoping to solve the issue rather than buy new so soon.
So, it powers on fills and drains fine, tries to spin but thats where it stops, at the point about to spin even hear a slight click as if its about to spin but just doesnt do anything.
I have changed many heating elements in the past but cant put my finger on it with this isuue
I know its just a long shot but any ideas appreciated.

Have cleaned the filter out too by the way.
Thanks as alwsys

No spin sounds like the belt . Take the back off or tilt forward and it will probably be on the floor

    Easy fix

Motor brushes would be my first guess. There must a YouTube out there showing you how to check them.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

If the drum rotates during the wash, I would discount the belt and brushes. I had this on my WM (not an Indesit) and it was the reversing relay, a cheap fix.

Out of interest if it was the belt would I be able to rotate it by hand from inside the drum?

    You would.

And it would feel much freer than normal because if the belt has snapped or slipped off then there would no resistance.

Simply opening the back would tell you whether the belt is still on the wheel. Bit of a knack to get a belt on the wheel but there are you tube videos on it.

My first diagnosis on that would be to look at the carbon brushes on the motor.

I've had to replace twice on my Beko. Lack of turning, slow turning, no spinning is a classic sign of wear on the brushes.

To check whether the brushes are worn on my machine you have to take the motor out. For mine £8 per pair on ebay.

Just tried and no, does not rotate during a wash cycle.

    Thanks for the ongoing help.

When our Indesit did this it was the brushes. Repair man fixed it quickly and cheaply :)

In which case the previous proffered solutions stand: -
    1. Brushes
    2. Drive belt

To check 2, try to spin the drum by hand and see if it feels extraordinarily easy (probably difficult to decide unless you have tried it before it stopped working and know how it used to feel) OR take the back off the machine and if you see the belt lying on the floor, there's your answer. If the belt is still attached to the motor pulley and drum, it's the brushes.

Check brushes by removing from motor, they are normally held in by a spring clip. Goes without saying to isolate machine from power before doing any of this. Of course it could be the control board but the first two checks you can do yourself.
