Nationwide Flexplus phone claim

I bought a Samsung phone Jan 2016.
It was immaculate till I gave it to my teenage son who within weeks dropped it and cracked the front corner. I've had Flexplus for several years and never needed to make a claim for anything before. If I contact Flexplus to make a claim will I have to declare it on my next house insurance renewal?

No idea probably depends on the terms of your home insurance. I don't see how it would be relevant to buildings cover but it might be relevant to contents cover. You might do better asking on an insurance forum? Most of the people on this forum are too busy saving and investing to pay for packaged bank accounts.0

Wasn't sure which forum was better to post on, will ask on the insurance forum.0

Would seem daft not to make a claim, if you don't want to make a claim then probably best to cancel the insurance/ downgrade the account.0 -

Question would have been better on the banking forum, or possibly insurance, but your final sentence is a non sequitur.
The need or want for a packaged bank account is down to an individual's experience or perception of its value, and the cover or perks included at the defined cost.
I doubt many people are too busy saving and investing to be able to make an assessment of a packaged bank account, a separate process from assessing savings and investments, though the flexplus does lay interest so there is some crossover.
If you are too busy to be able to make such an assessment then it's probable that you're over thinking the savings and investments, which in itself is probably a bad thing leading to issues like fiddling and tweaking, excessive buying and selling, increasing costs with below optimal performance.
Apologies if I got a bit 'bowlhead' there, don't want to breach his copyright.0 -
insurance is a form of banking and has historically been a means of saving and invetsment of capital, hoping to earn the premiums as interest and not loosing the principle due to a policy payout.
i don't think the OP is wrong to post it here, and we certainly shouldn't lash out at him for doing so, but for a more efficient resolution, it would be better to post elsewhere, and if possible include as much information as possible.0 -
perhaps we should have a bancassurance (wikipedia)forum?0

@bigadaj in the same post you picked me up for my assertion that most on this forum are unlikely to have paid bank accounts (ok I don't have evidence but believe it to be likely) you then made an assertion that those keeping busy with their investments were overthinking with excessive fiddling and tweaking transactions! Some of are busy doing nothing of negative impact to our investment performance.
The question was fundamentally about home insurance claim history declarations rather than the banking product so those on the insurance forums would be the best group to ask.0 -
I just called flex plus about my broken iPhone screen. There is a £50 excess for a damaged phone and £100 excess for a lost one.
You also have to pay to send the phone to them and you don’t get it back, you get a refurbished one instead. Meaning you have to clear down your phone etc
I hadn’t even considered declaring it on home insurance as it’s nothing to do with that policy.
I managed to get a new screen fitted in town for £50 so didn’t go ahead with the claim.0 -
I made a claim for a phone that had water damage. £50 excess and then sent me out a freepost envelope. I got a refurbished phone that was like new. It took about 10 days in total. Then I restored from the cloud. I didn't update my house insurance, as I thought that it was nothing to do with them,0
