It means they will be even less likely to refund it to you if you cancel your flight, on the grounds they had to pay it anyway.....0 -
How can they calculate and charge it ? The flight may not be full untill 2 hours before take off.
It sounds like another ill thought out "green" gimmick0 -
I think the way it will work is that the airline will pay a fixed amount of tax per plane per flight. So if the plane is empty or full the same tax will have to be paid by the airline. I imagine each type and size of plane will attract a different tax , depending on its carbon footprint. If or how they pass this charge onto customers will be interesting to see.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Depending how large this tax is, it may encourage certain airlines to cancel flights that are well under capacity, and probably blame it on a "technical problem"
The price no doubt will be passed on as a surcharge, and any surplus will no doubt end up in the directors pockets.0
