Back pain - Cancelling My Holiday, Insurance Advice Needed

Hi all,
I've recently hurt my back and it's now reached the point where I believe I cannot travel on our family holiday, coming up in a week's time.
I made a booking online for flights for myself and my family, hotel booking is refundable so that's not an issue. Can I claim on my travel insurance for cancellation of flights for myself and my family, and if so, what do I need to do in terms of going to the GP and getting a note, etc...? Will all our flights be covered or just mine? I am the head of the family and as a result of my predicament, the rest of the family won't travel either.
Not exactly sure what the procedure is.
Thanks for any advice!

Your insurance should tell you what you need to do and whether the whole family is covered or just you. Your GP may charge for a letter to the insurance companyHi all,

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks for your reply, just wondered if anyone else has had to do this and can advise?0

Just to be clear, my family is covered by the family insurance, I just wondered if the insurance will only repay my flight since I'm the one who has the problem...0

So my question is, what do I need to do in terms of GP vists/note, by when and do you think all the families flights would be covered even though I'm the only one unfit to travel. All the family is covered under my travel insirance.
Thanks in advance for any input.0 -

As you're in so much pain as to need to cancel your holiday then presumably you are already seeing your GP. You need to ask them to write a letter, probably chargeable, as soon as possible. No one can say whether everyone is covered, it depends on the wording of the insurance.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
