Guess who and what?

I have received a Parking Eye Charge for taking 3 hours nap during the middle of the night whilst travelling from home (Scotland) to work (England).

I have ignored the charges up to today but have came home to a letter from Equita.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Equita are the debt collector for PE's owners, CAPITA. Ordinarily PE don't use debt collectors, their default is to issue a LBCCC followed shortly afterwards by court papers.

The fact that they have referred your case to debt collectors suggests there is some impediment to them issuing court proceedings (likely the landowner has not agreed to this option in the contract they have exchanged with PE).

So you're at the debt collector stage. We have specific advice about dealing with debt collectors, which you can find and read in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4.

Please note that my advice doesn't guarantee that PE won't commence court action, but I've not yet seen a Equita referral go that way. But legally, PE do have 6 years to pursue through the county court. Just a heads up on things, nothing to be overly concerned about. Come back if you get a LBCCC (Google it) or real court papers.

Of course. How did I miss Scotland when I read the OP? Obviously locked on to Equita and went off down that as a single path.
