Splitting Holiday Cost

Why can't people agree on what's what before committing?0

Would you go there just the two of you (your son and you?). Is the accommodation charge based on per person per night, or a set rate per night?
Without knowing the bedroom/bathroom layout and how the idea was presented to them then it could be they aren't thinking the same.
5 nights accommodation (sleeping x people) costs £650.
If they don't go, you pay £650 (£130 per night).
If they do go, you split the payment on the nights they are there.
For you that is £130 for 2 nights and £65 each night for the nights you are all there. They pay £65 each night for the nights they are there.
You should be discussing this with them, not us.0 -

To be fair, it isn't intelligent to go into negotiations without a clue.
As least they now have a range of equations and can align themselves with the one they think is the most reasonable.
So then they can discuss it, as they will know how to explain it.0 -

We don't know any of the circumstances so to say "it isn't intelligent to go into negotiations without a clue" is irony at it's best.
The OP knows the circumstances of how this "booking" this has come about and without being privy to that we can't make judgement on what is fair or not.
However, the OP now has some idea of what is fair (in their mind) and what the other party may be considering as fair.0 -

Hmmm....unless the OP is just a Troll, I think that's a bit unfair. Not every is good with these things.0 -
Isn't this another mse money moral dilemma?0
-
OP make it simple: you offer to pay 2/3rds them 1/3rd. They may offer more if not it is a fairly satisfactory and "comfortable" agreement.
Although you don't say how old your son is, if a child then the above may not work and a 50/50 split may be reasonable.0 -
This has gone downhill, need more input from OP.....0
