need help/advice re student loans, grants etc

So i started my degree in 05/06 and had to take a yr out in 06/07 to have a baby. 07/08 i have transfered to another uni to complete my degree. Under this i should be on the old system where i know what i am entitled to etc etc. HOWEVER the loans company are assessing me under the new system saying im a new student and apparently the uni told them im not a transfer student - despite the uni office telling me they would sort it out for me, which is why i asked the finance people to call the office.

So what the heck can i/do i have to do to get them to assess me under the old system?

The woman on the phone said under the new system i cant have my fees paid for me despite being a single parent and i wont be able to afford £3070 fees, and resent having to take out a loan to pay them as well as my normal loan.

So if i cant get onto the system i should be on, what on earth am i entitled to now? will i be better or worse of?

I just feel so cross and upset - for weeks i had to chase up my letter from uni to send off with my application to confirm they had accepted me onto yr 2 of their course which delayed the form, and from week 6 (of the form arriving with the loan people) ive been calling the student finance people 2 - 3 times a week to chase up whats going on. Its a case of, i need this money to pay bills and to live as i cant work at the moment and everytime i try to explain to these people they just seem to shrug it off and pass the buck.
