The 1% is to divide your debt by 100 and that gives you 1% of your debt.
Every time you pay off 1% of your debt, you celebrate it and that's what you aim for.
I have written 1% 100 times on paper and cut them out and put them in a jar. Every time I pay off £170 I take out a 1% card and pop it into another jar so I can see it moving. As this is a long term thing, it is easier to hit the little targets and I can see the empty pot start to grow.
Does that make sense? xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Makes complete sense, its a great idea to keep you motivated! Ooh you have updated your sig, I'm going to assume that this means you are more prepared to face everything which is fantastic, I know you were putting off the car but I think including the whole picture really helps once you're ready to do so, well done!Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0

I've just condensed the signature down, that's all.
I am ready to deal with the car. The car is going! I can't do anything with it till April, but it will be gone next year.September 2017 Debt = £25330

Just found and subscribed to your diary
had a little read through. I use Pinterest to find free/cheap activities to do with my DS, usually season based, but it's a good starting point. I think a little pot for the holidays sounds like a good idea.

Thank you Pauper, I really should join Pinterest!
Today has been spent catching up on some household stuff and wrapping up some Christmas presents, DS wanted to stay in today so I could get a fair bit done.
I'm really tempted to pop out and grab either a bottle of wine or a couple of tonics for this evening whilst I study (DS at his dads), I will probably do more studying with a nice glass of something but then today would be a NSD if I resist the urge.
I am going to come up with a new budget for the next 2 months shortly and see how much damage this does to my overdraft.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -
Well I resisted yesterday which made it a NSD. Today won't be because I am going food shopping today rather than my usual Sunday as I have a busy weekend. I am so excited for this weekend, quality time with DS. It won't be a cheap weekend but I have put things into place to make it as cheap as I can.
Once this weekend is out of the way I will come up with a budget for Nov/Dec. I have £17.70 in my PA account, just waiting to get it up to £20 so I can cash out which means that it will have paid for my MOT. I am considering getting my car serviced at the same time as my MOT which will likely result in me putting that onto a card and paying it in January so I don't get charged any interest. My car is well overdue a service. 2018 will be much better budget wise as I will have the whole year to put money into pots and by this time next year I will have cleared all of my debts.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -
Planning makes it so much better. That's one of the tings I didn't do this week, which ended up costing me a lot more than I wanted to spend.
Sounds like you've got a fab weekend planned, enjoy it.
I'd have been tempted by the wine I think and would have probably given in!
Have a fab day xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

I agree Nicnak, planning definitely helps to keep the costs down. I am going to enjoy every second of it.
Spent a small fortune today but that was because I needed meat and I had gotten away with not buying any for the last couple of weeks, also bought myself some small cans of tonic which should last me a little while.
Forgot to add earlier that I had listed about 10 things on eBay this morning, one of which already has a bid so I am hoping I get more for that one. I will hopefully get some more things listed later, I have absolutely tons of stuff I could list if I could just take a whole day out to list them all, its just so repetitive and dull.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -
Well done on the ebay listing! I tend to just do two at a time because it's so dull, so ten is amazing.
Is this weekend the show? I am not sure if that was you, or someone else I've read that much on this site recently!Make £2025 in 2025 #18 - £569.66/£2025

The weekend is Disney on Ice Pauper. Yeah I find eBay listing the most boring job ever, I think I'm going to set myself a target in November to list one thing per day but make it as a total of 30 in the month so I can list 2 on one day if I miss a day. This should help to bring in a small amount of extra cash hopefully and will really help to de clutter ready for Christmas.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0
