Free half term fun could involve a walk in the park to collect leaves, acorns etc, and then come home and make a collage with your finds. Are there any free museums or art galleries around you could take him to?
Swimming isn't free but isn't the most expensive activity. Do you know any other parents you could arrange playdates with, or that you could arrange to meet at the local playground? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Lots of great ideas there Hairy, will definitely be taking a trip or two to the park to make something with what we find. DS has swimming lessons so he gets free swimming outside of lessons so I would only have to pay for me so that's also a great idea. Unfortunately I don't know that many people around here, I will make sure I get over to see my closest friend who is around 50 miles away so that will cost around £5 in fuel. Thank you for the lovely ideas.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0

Could you find out who his friends are at school and then see if you can speak to the parents and arrange a playdate? Or give DS some notes with your phone number to give to his best friends to pass on to their parents and suggest play dates? It could help you to get to know some of the other parents (always useful). Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Most of the parents seem to keep themselves to themselves, I know a couple of names that he appears to get on well with but its all so new and so early on, I might give it a few weeks before thinking about this just give him a little more time to see who he gets on well with. There are a couple that I absolutely want to avoid, I have heard them using some words that they really shouldn't be aware of at such a young age and I don't want my DS thinking that those sort of words are acceptable. I know its not the childrens fault and I wish there was something I could do but I can't control other peoples parenting.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -
School can be such a melting pot. Best to wait then perhaps before arranging playdates. My children heard their first swear words at infant school which shocked me!Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Its very shocking, it wouldn't be so bad if it was just say one word but these particular children probably know more swear words than I do, they also use racist language which is the absolute deal breaker for me, I won't condone them using those words around my DS.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0

From experience, your son will come out of school soon enough asking if he can play with x y or z after school. I did meet one of my closest friends outside the school gate some 25 years ago , our eldest children started nursery class together .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yes I'm thinking he will, he has mentioned once or twice inviting someone to our house so I'm hoping this will happen eventually, he has had a couple of party invites but they always fall on the worst possible day for me.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0

How much do I regret cycling today, I ache all over, my back is probably the worst. On the plus side I saved myself £4 from cycling in. I don't know how I will find the strength to walk up to the school in a couple of hours.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0
